Courage was written for a friend who needed a gift for someone going through chemotherapy and cancer.  This poem I found difficult to write because I wanted to acknowledge the seriousness of cancer.  To me, I think acknowledgement of personal challenges is important to friends.  Even if we truly don't know all that a friend in need is going through, I feel acknowledgement shows we care.  I hope that this message can provide the support and show love between friends.

i wAlk on 

even though something inside 

has started to eat away 

at the soul & bones of my temple 

invading, not invited, 

this foreigner has traveled 

i wAlk on as i see 

all that i have to live for 

all that i have to give to 

treatments and thankfulness 

i wAlk forwArd 

embracing what has 

come into my path 

with courage and grace 

i wAlk on knowing simply 

that i love 

i Am loved 

i wAlk on
